ABOUT LOCKERBIE COLLEGE

REAL WORLD LEARNING

SCHOOL CULTURE

Once your child has been admitted to Lockerbie College, we gather around a table, customising a long-term plan, which we call, ‘The Learning Journey’. We examine every conceivable detail which may be needed to help our new student love learning, trust the process and start on the path of reaching personal potential. This is why our Application Form is so detailed; no one knows a child as his or her parents do, and they provide the ‘manual’ from which the extended team gleans insight and takes its cues.

Lockerbie College is often referred to as a family; not because we are a small school, or because we have small classes; both are foundations of our business model and they will not change. We are called a family because we come to know each other really well and enjoy close and empathetic relationships. Friendships forged at Lockerbie College have proven that they endure.

Lockerbie College has always been a place where committed parents invest in wonderful children, to be nurtured by great teachers, to discover their ‘inner winner’, and live fulfilling lives as global citizens.

Education must be replaced by authentic and strategic learning where students are committed to thinking creatively and analytically – thereby extending their global relevance,  opportunities and influence.

Emotional Support

Years of working with children have taught us that the more collaborative and supportive the home-school and parent-teacher relationship, the more successful the academic and emotional outcome for the student. For us to make meaningful progress it is necessary to involve parents in the learning process, in both big and small ways. Our objective, together, is to develop an independent thinker with an entrepreneurial spirit, who becomes a young adult with strong self-regulation skills and a sound sense of self in the larger world. We work with our parents to help the children in our care grow into honourable leaders worth following, who confidently seize the day and embrace opportunities with clarity, purpose, and vision. Hence our motto, ‘Finis Origine Pendet’ – The End Depends Upon the Beginning.

Everyone knows everyone else, and no one feels like another number or name.
